Juvéderm Ultra is a dermal filler, which is a nontoxic substance that serves a wide range of purposes: smoothing out wrinkles, reducing acne scarring, and much more.

Specifically, Juvéderm Ultra belongs to the Juvéderm family and is the softest dermal filler used to treat wrinkles (although not deep-set ones), reduce depressed scarring, and fill out your lips.

Made from a hyaluronic acid gel (which is a substance occurring naturally in your skin), Juvéderm works by acting as a sponge that fills in wrinkles and folds, as well as provides support to sunken areas of your skin. Hyaluronic acid also helps to improve your skin’s overall quality. Thanks to the increased collagen, your skin will look and feel plumper. You’ll have fewer wrinkles, and your complexion will be significantly more radiant.

The main differences between Juvéderm Ultra and Juvéderm Ultra Plus are that the filler used in Juvéderm Ultra is thinner than in Ultra Plus and Juvéderm Ultra is primarily used for wrinkles or folds that aren’t as severe or deep-set. Can I use Juvéderm Ultra™?

Almost everyone can make use of the amazing benefits of Juvéderm Ultra. Dr. Sofonio has used these derma and lip fillers on patients of all skin types and tones. As mentioned before, if you are looking for subtler, yet still noticeable, results, then you can probably use Juvéderm Ultra. The only people who should not use dermal fillers, in general, are patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as patients who’ve used blood thinners or have a bleeding disorder. As always, please speak to your cosmetic surgeon before undergoing any of these procedures.

Treatments take less than 30 minutes and are virtually painless. Dr. Sofonio will apply a topical anesthetic and then inject the dermal filler into the target area. You will immediately start to see results, and there’s no downtime required. Beyond some mild swelling or tenderness, there should be no other visible side effects. The results should last for upwards of a year, and with one or two treatments over that period, you should have the same results.
