Your Scar Removal Treatment: The Process

When you come in for a one-on-one consultation for scar repair in Palm Springs, Dr. Sofonio will conduct a thorough analysis of your skin and other related factors, including your general health status and any health conditions. The severity of the scarring will determine the procedure he recommends for you. Some of the options include the use of dermal fillers to smooth concave scars, injection of steroids such as Kenalog, topical treatments such as gels, and external compression or tapes to help smooth surface scars. Your other options include State of the Art laser treatments such as the Intense Pulsed Light or Cutera Laser technology, dermabrasion, a chemical peel, laser skin resurfacing, and the application of skin bleaching agents.

Trauma Scars

If you experience skin trauma, you may have been left with visible face or body scars. Our custom scar treatments are geared to produce the best result possible, and several treatments may be combined based on your condition.

Incision Scars

If you had a procedure that left visible scars, the appearance of the scar tissue could be reduced with one of our array of scar removal treatments, including dermabrasion, laser treatment, a chemical peel, or a customized set of treatments.

Acne Scars

Acne scars are impossible to completely hide with cosmetics and are often a source of embarrassment. These scars can be “boxcar,” or wide, boxlike sunken depressions in the skin with defined edges, “icepick” scars appearing as a narrow indentation in the skin, or “rolling scars” with broad depressions with a sloping edge. Treating acne scars may require a set of procedures, including fillers, laser skin resurfacing, a custom chemical peel, or skin bleaching agents.
